Art has always been a matter of sharing my thoughts and my experiences about the special places that inspire me and Monhegan island is one of those places.  As a painter and custodian of history, my creative spirit has found a kinship with this artistic island community.

The art colony of Monhegan Island has been attracting artists for decades.  Its geographic location twelve miles off the main land makes it a unique setting for painters, musicians, writers, and poets wishing to emerse themselves in the creative solitude.  Wooden lobster traps, old buoys, and even a ship wreck recall the island’s seafaring legacy and reminds visitors that Monhegan is still a working fishing village. In the quietude and stillness I experience a poetic energy that inspires me to explore a greater depth and maturity in my work. It has been my pleasure to intoduce you to this unique island and I thank you for the time you've taken to view my images of Monhegan island and coastal Maine.
